Vintage German Art Deco Green Molded Glass Necklace

This is a lovely vintage art deco glass necklace. It features twenty-two 5/8" by 3/8" prong set, open-backed glass stones that have a diagonal band with facets flanked by corners with a foliate design. The setting is silver-toned metal with what appears to be a light rhodium plate. The ring opposite the spring clasp is marked "Germany," but there are no other markings apparent. The glass is a beautiful shade of green that closely resembles chrysoprase, with a soft internal glow. The shape and pattern is high art deco, perhaps just a bit more ornate than machine-age style. German pieces are less common than similar ones from Czechoslovakia. As this piece is marked "Germany" rather than "West Germany," it can be dated to before WWII.

The necklace curves and drapes beautifully, but measuring it is a little difficult; with a fabric tape measure, it comes in at 14" along the inside edge. The simple closure mechanism would make adding an extender very simple. The piece is in remarkable vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, flakes or other damage to the poured glass pieces. The finish is also in perfect condition. A magnet does not stick to the metal, but I do not have a testing kit available to determine what the setting is made of.
