Antique Sterling Silver Enamel Parrot Brooch Pin by F.A. Hermann

This is a delightful and rare find, a brooch by the F.A. Hermann Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts in the form of a colorful parrot. Made of sterling silver, the piece is finished in vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel over a delicately textured basse-taille surface that gives the impression of realistic feathers.

The bird is perched jauntily on a circle swing. The feathers are detailed in shades of green and orange. The back of the brooch has a simple c-clasp and is signed "H" in a triangle and "sterling".

Measuring 1" by 3/4", the piece is in good condition, but with a spot of missing enamel on one leg and possibly at the base of the tail (even with a loupe, I couldn't tell whether it was a shallow flake or just darker enameling). I have added a close-up and a photo with a penny for scale.
