This elegant bar pin is a classic example of Victoriana. Made of a rectangular bar of glossy black onyx, it has a matte, concave oval hollowed out of the center. Affixed is a lovely floral detail that looks like lily of the valley blossoms adorned with tiny, bright white seed pearls.

The back has a traditional t-bar pin with a barrel clasp (which functions like an elongated version of the more common c-clasp). The hinge side of the pin attachment is marked "14k" and has a tiny mark that I have not been able to make out, even with a loupe. The onyx on the back has a faintly etched number "6" or "9."

The brooch measures 2 3/16" long by 5/16" wide by 3/16" thick. It is in near-mint condition, astonishing for a piece of its age.
