Antique 830S Marius Hammer Dragon Style Dragestil Viking Silver Letter Opener with Pencil, Norse

This fantastic silver combination pencil and letter opener from Norway has an 830S silver mark with Marius Hammer's mark, an M with a hammer running through it. Hammer is perhaps better known for his high-quality sterling and enamel Norwegian jewelry. This elegant Dragstil piece dates from the turn of the last century; it measures 5 1/4" with the pencil out and 4" when sheathed. The silver sheath has a classic viking dragon head and Norse celtic scroll pattern on both sides. I don't often apply the term "rare," as it seems to be overused quite a bit, but this particular piece is indeed hard to find. It would make a lovely addition to the collection of any serious Norway sterling aficionado.
