This sleek mid-century modern set is by John Bryan of Asheville, North Carolina. Active in the 1950s, Bryan created hand-tooled pieces that are now recognized as part of the studio movement. His familiar disc motif is on display in this set of matching brooch and screw-back earrings, trimmed with twisted silver rope and finished with vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel in vibrant cobalt blue. This is a sleek pair of vintage modernist studio earrings made of sterling silver. The maker is Lore; not much is known of the artist, but she worked in New York in the 1950s. Her pieces are rather uncommon. This set features an abstract pattern with square geometric forms with a wire wrap-around branch. They are screw-back style and are marked on the back "Lore." Measuring 5/8" by 5/8", the earrings are in excellent condition.
