SOLD Castlecliff Love Birds Brooch with Acrostic Design

Offered is an early example of Castlecliff jewelry that dates from the 1940s and features a pair of love bird on a jeweled branch. The birds are set with two pear shaped aqua colored rhinestones (which forms a heart) and imitation pearls with clear rhinestones set in their tails, the branch has nice details and is set with multicolored rhinestones in an acrostic design; if you start with the clear rhinestone and take the first letter of each stone, if they were genuine, it spells DEAREST. D-iamond E-merald A-methyst R-uby E-merlad S-apphire T-opaz, it is also accented with small clear rhinestones.The brooch measures 2 by 1 1/2 inches and is slightly dimensional design, it is in excellent condition. Jewelry with an acrostic design is very desirable and this is one of more elaborate pieces I have seen and it is also one of the earliest Castlecliff pieces I have found.
