In the olden days, an amateur ham radio operator would build his own short wave receiver, and spend night after night listening to signals (mostly in Morse code) from around the world. Just imagine his excitement when he tuned in and heard an amateur ham in another country or state, or when he heard signals on a different wave band. This would prompt him to make contact by letter giving details to the other station on how well the signal had been received, together with information on the date, time, wave band and the aerial and receiver used at his end. In return, hopefully, he would eventually receive a reply confirming the reception report, in the form of a QSL card such as those described in this collection.
Today, these interesting cards are wonderful communication collectibles from another era of time. This is a particularly large collection of cards (nearly all unused postally) containing lots of line-drawn graphics, as well as the more plain type info cards.
The picture shows groups of about 25 cards each. The stacks provide a sample of the kinds of QSL cards described.
Several of the cards are humorous in nature, and some are even a bit risque (adults only type). There are a few smaller-size cards that don't really appear to be QSL cards, but they were included with this collection so they will remain with it. They were not counted in the 200+ set.
These cards are guaranteed to delight the Ham Radio enthusiast, either as a thoughtful gift or as a great addition to a special collection! They could also be used as decorations to spark up a modern-day Ham Shack -- Fun!!
