Large Antique Tortoise Shell and Silver Handled Magnifying Glass

A really quite handsome magnifying glass in an impressive size which would look quite wonderful on the desk-top.
The handle is made from solid or sterling silver and the front is inset with a glorious piece of antique tortoiseshell with attractive markings and a good shiny patina. The collar around the top is where the English hallmark for London 1899 can be found.
This wonderful handle has been matched with a new large glass, making this most usable today with a clear undamaged lens and a good magnification; As useful as decorative.
The entire piece measures 9 1/4" in length and a glass diameter of 4 1/2".
