Each oval salt is a good heavy weight and made of a good gauge of silver, really super quality. They have the most elegant repousse floral garland and bow decoration.
The salts and spoons all bear the makers mark for John and Willian Deakin and each is hallmarked for the year 1896 and assayed in Sheffield.
The set sits in it's original box with silk and velvet lining, the box is damaged and the lid has come away from the base but the hinges are intact and this could be reassembled if required.
The interior of the lid retains the makers mark printed in gold which reads "Poile & Smith From Pickett's / Court Jewellers / 520 Oxford Street W" so were probably purchased by or for a smart London family.
All pieces are in excellent condition without damage. Each salt measures 2 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 3/8" tall and each spoon 3" in length. Simply superb!!
