A wonderful example of a Scottish Fern Ware Go-To-Bed in the form of a drum.
The original little ivory receptacle on the top is still present which would hold the lit match giving off enough light to see one up the stairs to bed where a chamberstick could have then been lit; hence Go-To-Bed.
The interior would have held the matches and would have been struck on the underside where the original paper remains intact.
This piece is made even more collectible and highly sought-after with the added bonus of the delightful decoupaged banner reading Merry Xmas & A Happy New Year.
A perfect Christmas or Holiday gift for the Fernware devotee remaining in excellent condition. Measures 2" high with a diameter of 2 1/8".
