This is a rare and unusual type of Scottish Mauchline napkin ring combined with tartanware trim top and bottom; better quality than a lot of these Victorian souvenir - type items.
Dating to around 1870, the front of this one has a black transfer of Burns Monument, highly collectible.
The rear has the following by Robert Burns is printed:
He'll hae misfortunes great and sma' But aye a heart aboon them a' He'll a' be be proud o' Robin
Superb condition with no loss to tartan, a bright and glossy patina.
