The highly decorative handle is a good early one, made from solid or sterling silver with an British hallmark for Birmingham 1859, a good Victorian handle, the makers mark for John Gilbert can also be seen. The magnifier itself is of course new, making quite usable today with a crystal clear lens and good magnification. A good large size measuring 7 3/4" in length, the glass having a diameter of 3 1/2".
