A delightful and interesting early nineteenth century novelty pill or patch box in the from of a pocket watch, beautifully crafted and decorated with stunning engine turned decoration including on the small handle. The interior is gilded, this is also where the clear hallmark can be found for London 1819, together with the makers mark GW for George Wintle, a wonderful Georgian example. The box snaps shut nicely and is without damage. Measures 1 1/4" in diameter and 1 3/4" including handle.

Obviously made for a lady's desk, the decoration includes a cast Rose and foliage created from enamel on top of the brass. The removable cut crystal inkwell has a brass collar and is mounted with a further brass mount engraved "Dublin". The base has two "troughs" which act as pen rests for a dip pen when not in use.
