A very nice example of a late Victorian or Edwardian travelling chess set dating to around 1900. The case is made from Mahogany and is held closed with two brass catches, one either end. The board when opened reveals the complete chess set, made from a celluloid type material. It's rather nice to have the holes on the side and on the covers to house the pieces once finished with during a game. Excellent condition measuring 5 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 2 1/4" tall while closed.
