This is impressive black powder horn, carved in wood, offering two compartments, and a tinder box, with its hinged carved lid. Face is superb, framed with sculpted garlands,two hanging holes enriched with engraved stars, centre has the oval tinder box carved with acanthus leaves, as is the neck. One stopper is missing, the remaining is superb, helmet shaped, it locks with turning socket. Reverse is plain, and beautiful, joining with the face using wooden nails. A superb hunting item, a marvelous treen!
Dimension is great: 9-1/2ins x 5ins!
I fully guarantee authenticity of this antique piece, North Europe or Continental working, dating from second part 18th Century.
Condition, except the missing stopper, is near perfect, flawless, beautiful patina, with only minimal wear.
