Most often, these paintings are referred to as "Folk" Reverse painting on glass or "Primitive" and "Naive" in other parts of the world. They were made by itinerant artists and usually not signed. They are highly prized for their decorative quality This particular piece is most likely late 19th century and it is done in oil. Its very nice!

What I have is an oval convex glass and the painting is done on the concave part of the glass and the painting is framed. There are some pieces of inlaid abalone shell in the painting. Painting is a country home scene. There is no artist signature. There are some chips in the wooden frame. There is a piece of cardboard at the back. The cardboard is warped and does have some brown dots and chips.

Condition:

The painting is in Very Good condition. The frame is in Good condition. The cardboard backing is in Fair condition.
