Beautifully hand carved genuine Bakelite and set with a lovely carved pink and white coral cameo. Good used condition consistent with normal use. There is one small chip at the bottom of the brooch picture is included. The chip is to the immediate right of the straight pin, the chip is on the bakelite portion of the brooch. There are some areas on the bakelite portion of the brooch that appear to be brown these areas are due to the flash there is no brown areas on this brooch. The catch works fine. This brooch is not marked. There is an appraisal included with this brooch. Initially when I had the Jeweler look at the brooch he told me it was Whitby Jet. When he did a thorough test he found it to be either late 1800's to very early 1900's bakelite. Also the jeweler told me the small tiny pin prick holes on the coral is due to coral being very porous and tiny little grooves in the coral are to be expected. There is a completed appraisal which is included with this brooch. Retail Appraisal Value $

Size ~ 27.5mm x 24.2mm oval bakelite broach with 19.0mm x 15.5mm pink and white coral cameo.

Weight ~ 6.6 grams.

Age ~ Circa 1890 to 1910

A wonderful and collectible original Bakelite and Coral Cameo brooch. It looks stunning on too.
