Offered here is this excellent example of 1970's fat lava design from West Germany. Dumler & Breiden made some exciting pottery in the 1960's and 70's. This is one of those pieces. As is common with all Dumler & Breiden pieces, this is marked on the base Germany. They never marked any of their output West or W. Germany. This planter pot is a stunning shade of green that does not translate well to pictures. It is a high gloss deep sea green with a frothy white lava glaze flowing over the top and covering 2/3 of the exterior. It is somewhat large at 15.7cm ( 6 1/4" ) high and 18.5cm ( 7 1/4" ) rim diameter. The maker remains unknown to me but would date from the 1970's. These planting dishes are not commonly found, vases yes, but not other pieces. This pot has the benefit of having a wonderful dark emerald green glaze with 2 bands of white lava treatment. Never made in great abundance, West German lamp bases are quite hard to find. This is an oddly impressive design. This has a space capsule design that I would date to the 1960's. The frothy green lava glaze flows all over the bulbous body. The base glaze is a rich cocoa brown. The body design has 3 rows of nodules with borders of impressed rectangles. The clay is very white.
