Violent and horrific as it sometimes was, much of the time spent in the trenches during the 14/18 war was unutterably boring. At times like this soldiers with an imaginative streak looked for an outlet for their energies. The detritus of war, broken machinery, spent shell cases & etc., was harnessed to satisfy his need. For instance, in this handsome pair of 9 1/4" brass and copper candlesticks can be seen several differing calibers of cartridge casing. Home made, but fascinating and each example a unique piece of history. Quality and condition good
