A 10 inch "MUVILLE" signed "Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman (L.R.&L.)" Limoges ROCOCO Colonial CHARGER. This is the companion piece of another plaque I have on this site, and they both depict a young colonial couple enjoying time together. I call this one "Colonial Couple Playing with Doggie". In this one, they are playing with a small cute brown and white doggie on a chair. Both the young man and woman are dressed in COLONIAL wear of complementary COCOA and TAN coloration. This carefree young couple are beautifully dressed. She is wearing a day dress of blue with a subtlety striped skirt. She has on a white apron, brown scarf, and a matching white cap with a brownish-red ribbon. He is wearing knee breeches, full coat and vest, and a ruffled cravat. He has also has a tricorn hat wedged under his arm. At the time, he was considered quite dapperly dressed. The background coloration of these plaques are unusual as they are washed with a lovely BLUSH color. Usually these plaques are done in blue or green. This lovely plaque depicts a playful scene of courting in the 18th century, a couple at ease with each other in an unguarded moment.
This lovely Limoges ROCOCO PLAQUE is heavily outlined in gold.
This Plaque has the Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman (L.R.&L.) mark #2, overglaze decorating mark in red, crown and oval with initials and "PORCELAINE LIMOGES, FRANCE", ca. 1920's.
CONDITION: EXCELLENT Condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. Gold is in very good condition, a little wear to the high rococo edges, but this is normal for plates of this age. I would estimate the gold to be about 99% intact.
PLAQUE Size: 10 inches in circumference by about 1 1/2 inches deep.
