A HUGE "MUSEUM QUALITY" T&V 18 inches "CARRIE P. EARNEST" signed handpainted charger. I call it "Reading in the Library". I believe it to be a copy of an old work of art, but I have not been able to find the attribution. It depicts a BEAUTIFULLY dressed 17th. century young lady paging though a book, with another few books to the side. The wine colored background accentuates the Lovely beauty at the center of this piece. This lovely young girl obviously comes from wealth and station; she is adorned with a large string of pearls that is sporting a huge Red or Maroon Jewel pinned to the front of her bodice. Her stomacher (bodice) is sable in color and has ruffles at the shoulders, from which light colored laced cuffed sleeves fall. At her neck is the evolution of the 16th century ruff -- it is a laced wired wing collar, standing stiffly at attention behind her head. Her skirt is full and is of a lighter color matching the sleeves. The outfit she is wearing is not really appropriate for the library, but I love the colors, the jewels, and the huge lace ruffle to the back of her neck. Her dress is actually more appropriate for the Royal European Courts of Kings and Queens, and she is obviously one of the titled class. Her curly brunette hair is upswept, and piled on top of her dainty head. Her face is beautiful, her expression gentle and sporting a slight smile. This young beauty's skin tone on this work of art is something to behold - this was truly done by an artist of the first caliber - the shading is so complete and lifelike that I would feel this piece qualifies as "MUSEUM QUALITY." To judge the quality of this artist you have only to look to the depiction of lace and cloth; the shading and transparency in places of the lace, and the depth and sumptuousness of the bodice fabric (I feel as if the fabric is velvet). Top this off with a signature of the artist in the pages of the book at the side, and you have a very rare piece. This is a real find, and couple the artistry of this work with the rare size and perfect condition of this plaque, and you can see what a treasure it is.

The plaque is marked with T&V Mark 7, underglaze white ware mark in green, initials with "LIMOGES, FRANCE", ca. 1892 - 1907, probably latter part of period.

CONDITION: EXCELLENT Condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. Gold is in pristine condition. This huge plaque has gelled spacers on the back to facilitate resting on a flat surface.

PLAQUE (CHARGER) Size: 18 inches in circumference by about 1 inch deep.
