VIVID MORNING GLORY Motif, *GOLDEN SCROLL FEET* MINT!!*
Beautifully Handpainted, this lovely LIMOGES bowl was painted by a very talented, but unfortunately, unknown artist. This bowl is painted on a T&V (Tressemann & Vogt) Limoges blank ("Limoges, France, Depose" green mark #7 - ca. 1892 - 1907, probably the latter part of the period, ref. Gaston's book). This lovely bowl has the much collected MORNING GLORY FLORAL motif, with an unusual gold edged scalloped rim, and rests on THREE GOLDEN SCROLL FEET. This lovely bowl has a completely decorated interior, and a light green wash to the exterior. The PURPLE, MAGENTA, AND WHITE MORNING GLORIES fill the interior of the bowl, and are painted in cluster simulating the "on-the-vine" appearance in nature. There is shading to the leaves, and the background variegates between a pale green to a pale yellow. The condition of the paint belies its century old state. This lovely exterior wash of light green extends all the way to the scroll feet creating the resting base of the bowl. The GOLD GILT SCROLL FEET only show wear on the bottom of the feet, attesting to its age and the care taken with this century old work of art. There is a kiln "pop" or pin prick, that is common to old porcelain, and is reflective of the firing process.
Examples of these type of bowl can be seen in both Gaston's and Debby Dubay's books.
Size: 7 1/4 inches in diameter. About 3 inches tall. Scroll feet measure about 1 1/2 inches from base to tip of scroll.
Condition: EXCELLENT condition, no chips, cracks, crazing, chips or hairlines. There are a kiln "pop" as mentioned above, it is very common to old porcelain and in a product of the firing process, and I only mention it for accuracies sake.
