19th century - Black Forest smoker's chair

This elegant chair is from the Black Forest from the North-Eastern part of France, close to Germany. Dated 19th century. It is in excellent condition, beautifully carved and covered with beautiful red velvet cover. Has just been reinforced for a steady seating. Is called " Fauteuil de fumeur - Smoker's chair", as smokers were using it in cigar parlor. It was also very popular for cigar smokers to be photographed sitting on such a chair, their arms resting on the back of the seat.
