Here is a quite unusual torsion balance scale utilized to accurately measure medicinal ingredients, often in minute amounts, for making medicines prescribed by doctors. This torsion balance scale was manufactured by the Torsion Balance Co, New York in the early 1900s and is constructed of hard wood and glass, style #272, no. 870328, capacity 120G, class A. Unfortunately, I know very little about this scale, nor do I know if it functions properly, or at all, since I know nothing about torsion scales. The scale weighs 7 pounds 3.ounces, measures 11 1/2" long, 7 3/4" tall, 5" deep. I am unsure as to the type wood, but it is a good quality hardwood, ( I.E. oak, maple). The wood case is weathered, scratched, and actually, all condition is commensurate with age. Some of the metal is pitted and tarnished, There is chipping on the glass beneath the lid and a large chip/gouge on the edge of the glass (see pix) We are happy to accept lay-a-ways! We require a non-refundable 25% deposit within 10 days, and the balance to be paid in full within 30-60 days.
