Vintage PADIDDLY LINKS Pharaoh Face Egyptian Revival Necklace

I purchased a Padiddly Links necklace in the mid-Eighties in San Francisco, and it has always ranked among my favorite accessories. This company, which was in operation from 1969 until it was sold in 1995 (at which time I understand the name was discontinued), was founded by Steve and Elise Pittelman. The metal hang tags, like the one on this piece, read "Paddidly Links" on one side and "Kingston, NY" on the other.

A number of the company's most outstanding designs were Egyptian-Revival inspired, and this necklace is a splendid example of the genre. The centerpiece measures approx. 1 1/4" long x 1" at its widest point. The pharaoh's head is emblazoned with wings behind it, and the enameled metal is a deep lapis blue at the top and black in the ring and on the two jutting pieces at the bottom. On either side of the delicate, deep goldtone chain, which measures approx. 15" around, are two lovely, faceted clear-glass beads with deep purplish-red centers. A bit of wear to the patina at the BACK of the pendant (See last photo.); otherwise, this necklace is in excellent vintage condition and is fit for a queen--or a pharaoh!
