Jewelry such as this is often mistaken for the work of Selro, Selini, or HAR. According to my readings, most experts on vintage Asian-style costume jewelry are in agreement that that's not the case, however. Regardless, this design style dates back to approximately the same time, that being around the 1950s.

I have run into a number of pieces like this over the years, but this particular necklace was thrilling to find as it was really off the beaten track. I have never before seen this style of jewelry with blue rhinestones! Centerpiece of this unique piece measures 1 5/8" long x 1 1/16" across. Chain is approx. 16 1/2" around and has a fish-hook clasp.

As is as often as not the case with this sort of jewelry, the metal, especially on the chain, has become tarnished to the point of almost looking as if it were japanned. However, Buddha is still in excellent condition, as are the rhinestones, which are still clear and undimmed.
