This small handsome chest probably accompanied its captain on many sea voyages. Possibly used to hold important documents such as maps and letters, the chest is fitted with a lock, latches, and brass escutcheons for added strength. At one time there was a leather strap handle, but it is long gone. The chest is in excellent condition with desired age appropriate wear to the wood. It has an old world charm and would be a splendid gift for someone who loves boats and the sea or just to sit in a favorite spot and look gorgeous; size 11" H x 20" W x 9 1/2" D.
