Italian Watercolor Miniature Portrait on Ivory by Caruson

An exceptional Italian miniature watercolor portrait on ivory painted by Italian artist Caruson in 1884. The painting is so exquisite in its detail that you can discern the wrinkles at the corner of her eye, and its almost appears to be a photograph. She is dressed in a black gown with a white cap and shawl collar. Although she is aging, one can see the shadow of a once beautiful woman whose elegance has not faded with time.

The painting is signed, dated, and is in excellent condition. It is encased in a worn leather hinged box containing a velvet frame which holds the miniature and is protected with a convex glass. The frame lifts up on an easel.

The miniature is in excellent condition, however, the leather box is worn with pieces of the top layer missing on the outside.
