Early 19th C. French Miniature Portrait on Ivory of Young Woman in Crenelated Bonnet

Lovely early 19th century French miniature portrait on ivory of a young woman in her morning overcoat and large crenelated hat festooned with bows and flowers. The portrait faces slightly to the left and is set into a gilt bronze oval frame with suspension ring.

The miniature is not signed but is superbly executed with fine detail to the face and garments. It is in excellent condition and backed with vellum as shown. This painting came from a fine estate; the owner's miniature portrait collection was famous for its quality and size.
