Exquisite early 19th C. Louis XVI giltwood adjusting harpsichord or pianoforte stool with needlepoint top supported on finely tapered legs. The top turns to lower or raise the seat by way of a threaded rod which disappears into the middle drop finial. The stool has a delicate hand carved frame which is in excellent sturdy condition with age appropriate wear and flaking to some of the gilt; size 19 1/2" H x 16" D. Can't you just see a room full of "men in tights" sitting around listening to a beautiful young bewigged woman while she plays her harpsichord perched on this very stool and regales them with an aria.
