This magnificent pair of matching 19th century Elizabethan style busts are the brilliant work of French sculptor Ernest Rancoulet (1870-1915.) With an almost flawless patina that is original to the pieces and exceptionally detailed casting, these life-size busts are some of the finest we’ve seen. Both are inscribed with the artist's signature and are original castings. They came out of a very fine Estate collection and are accompanied by matching custom made burled walnut stands that showcase these works of art to their best advantage. Stunning together, they are selling as a pair, we wouldn't dare separate them after all these years.
Ernest Rancoulet was a 19th century artist of immense talent, whose sculptures are listed in books and showcased in museums and private collections the world over. It is a rare find to locate one piece, almost impossible to have a matching pair.
