Many Thanks for a Stellar 2009, We're Moving Into 2010 With An Exciting Inventory and More to Come!
Tapestries have long been collected for their ability to transform even the most humble of homes into a castle. The word “verdure” comes from an old French word meaning "green". No one knows exactly when the first tapestries were made, but by the 1600's, they had become a popular and useful form of textile art. The early French Verdures owed their distinction to the use of an all-over pattern of foliage, however, over time the designs improved to incorporate landscapes and wildlife. The more elaborate and detailed the design the more expensive and desirable the Tapestry.
The tapestry is in excellent age related condition. We have had it professionally cleaned and restored with a minute amount of reinforcing of minor separations.
