Louis XV Parcel Gilt Side Table With Marble Top

Rare Louis XV petite carved parcel giltwood side table with delicately carved frame. The table still retains its original blanc de plomb finish with a beautiful marble top. Its provenance is from a small castle in Germany. In the 18th and 19th century many German carvers flocked to France to learn the trade of the "ebeniste" as the restrictions of the guild had been lifted. Many of these craftsmen remained in France, but some took their knowledge and talent back to Germany. It is thought that this piece could possibly have been carved in Germany in the French style, ca. late 18th to early 19th century; size 25 3/4" height, by 21 1/4" width and depth.
