This is a really nice early and very primitively carved round figured maple wood box. You can see from the pictures how crude the inside of the box is. The top of the box does not fit on correctly, possibly because of shrinkage or perhaps it never fitted correctly. This is a wonderful primitive item. It has a nice aged patina on the wood.
