Wonderful Vintage Dovetailed Field ~ Lap Desk

Welcome to Penaroyal Collectibles!!! We have for sale a wonderful old field or lap desk. This desk has a primitive look with large dove tailed ends. The desk measures approx 8 ¾” deep x 5 ¾” tall x 17” wide. It folds open to reveal three compartments for holding pens, the desk top which is covered with green felt and and etc… It was made to have four compartments but one of the small section pieces is missing and it looks like the section were once lined with green felt at sometime.The desk top opens on each side and what we find interesting is they are not hinged. It is the green felt top that works as the hinge on both sides. The bottom of this item is rough and was never stained.

On the inside of one lid is some writing and one line has Isalina July 11th, 1840.

This old desk is in nice condition for its age. It does show some slight wear and a few minor scratches on the out side. It does have a key hole, but we do not have a key that will fit it. The felt on the inside may have been replaced at sometime. We are not sure of that and will take several photos and let you be the judge.
