Southern Potteries was in operation in Tennessee from 1938-1957. They are best known for their dinnerware but this is a covered powder jar made by them in the 1940's. It is a rare piece and in exceptional condition with NO damage, no chips, cracks, fleabites or crazing, the only thing that I noticed is that the mark on the back is blurry. It measures 5" by 3" high to the top of the handle and is marked on the bottom with the Blue Ridge mark. It is hand painted with a lovely floral pattern of pink and yellow flowers and has a painted, blue ribbon around the rim of the lid. Great collectors piece and could easily have a variety of different uses.
