Bronze clad pair of bookends signed by the German born American artist Paul Herzel depict pirates kneeling next to open treasure chests. The pirates have green and red highlights on their pants and head scarves, and would make a distinctive and unusual addition to an Art Deco collection. Though obviously a pair, there are subtle differences between the two, with one slightly shorter than the other and bending slightly lower. The original felt is on the base, and both are signed Paul Herzel with a copyright symbol. The bases show signs of wear as seen in the photos, and one of the pirates has a slight scuff on top of his head. Measure 5" x 3 1/2" x 2". Please email with any questions, and thanks for visiting Splendors Of The Past.
