The fruit itself is made of a heavy cherry amber-colored molded thermoplastic inset with dozens of hot pink rhinestones. The apples are topped with a goldtone double leaf and stem that has hints of green in it, with the earrings having more green than the pin.
The pin is 1-3/4" long from the tip of the stem and 1-1/2" wide. The clip earrings are 1" x 1". All of the pieces are in great vintage condition and ready to wear.
Forbidden Fruit were made in Austria after World War II and came paper-tagged with the name. Over the years, many of them have been featured in costume jewelry books, including some pieces from my own collection in Susan Klein's book, "Mid-Century Plastic Jewelry".
