Published by Franklin Watts, Inc., this series grew to include over 100 titles and it was hugely popular in schools, libraries and homes. It began with "The First Book of Airplanes" in the 40's and many titles were updated over the years as new developments occurred. We have some of the rarer titles in this set, Antarctic and Salt, which has the pictorial printed cover after they stopped using dust jackets. Salt is the only ex-library and it is in very good condition. Many have dust jackets with normal age chips & nicks. Titles include Surprising Facts, Dogs, Birds, Bugs, Microbes, Firemen, Automobiles, Submarines and Trains in addition to the two mentioned earlier. These make fun reading for youngsters even today and present lots of interesting topics. Start a collection with these and have fun finding the rest! As a bonus we're including two softcovers from The Basic Science Education Series from 1949 and 1950, "What Things Are Made Of" and "The Air About Us". They're neat since they include experiments!
