Specializing in Early 19th C English Ceramics & Meiji Era Japanese Ceramics
Perfect condition! No chips, no cracks, no crazing, no wear to the gilding, no repairs.
Although it stands only 5-3/4 " (14.5 cm) high, the circumference measures almost 18" (46 cm) ...this striking piece has presence!
The only legible marks are the hand painted pattern number 5544 in red, and another number (30) in golden brown. This pattern number dates the piece to no later than 1848. The bottom has the molded English Registry mark, which dates the pitcher to after 1842 That mark is filled in with glaze , and is not legible.
. For another example of Minton's pineapple moulding, see plate 1321, page 221 of Michael Berthoud's book " A Compendium of British Cups". The registered mark for that cup is 1878.
