Specializing in Early 19th C English Ceramics & Meiji Era Japanese Ceramics
Although the set was sold to me as by Machin, I've been in correspondence with the noted British ceramics researcher and co-author of "Machin Porcelain & Earthenwares", Philip Miller, about this cup. He believes it was probably made by Rathbone.
The set is unmarked except for a green tally mark on the inside of the cup's foot rim.
The set is in excellent condition. There is the slightest bit of wear to the ochre rims. The cup has no cracks, no chips, no crazing, no repairs. The cup rings when tapped. The saucer has some crazing, but no chips or repairs. The saucer does not ring, but has no detectable cracks.
