Antique 19th C Bunko or Manuscript Box of rectangular shape with rounded corners and a fitted lid with an interior fitted tray. Executed in gilt hirimaki-e, takamaki-e, and inlaid abalone shell. The motif is peacocks, raised flowers, and stream. The fitted tray is decorated, as is the interior of the lid.

Please note the very large size: 17" x 13-3/4" x 5-1/2". Or 35 cm x 43 cm x 14 cm. There has been some restoration to the raised flowers on the top of the lid. There is a crack on one corner of the box, shown in photo below. Otherwise, excellent condition.

This box will be shipped by USPS Registered Mail. It weighs about 8 lbs. unpackaged, and needs to be double-boxed.
