Specializing in Early 19th C English Ceramics & Meiji Era Japanese Ceramics
The alpine scene on the top panel, shows a man watching his cows near a stream, with mountains in the background. The lower panel shows two mountaineers on a mountain peak.
The condition is very good. There are, of course, surface scratches that come with age and use. There was a break at the upper left hand corner, which was nicely repaired. See my close-up photos.
The wall pocket is stable and functional. The hinges and cord appear to be original. They allow the wall pocket to open about 4" at the top.
You could use this piece strictly decoratively, but I use a similar one to hold mail.
