The pattern is printed in brown, has cobalt underglaze and enameled overglazes in dark brown,orange, red-orange, and green. The "fish roe" background is yellowish-tan. The rim is gilded. The body of the plate is earthenware. The plate dates c. 1815.

WEDGWOOD is impressed on the back, as are two numeral 9's (or 6's) in a vertical line. Hand painted in brown, the number 51, and a device which looks like a magnifying glass. .
