Antique Etruscan Majolica Sunflower Small Pitcher, Cobalt Blue, AS IS

This very attractive cream jug is 4-1/2" high. It was made by Griffin, Smith and Hill of Phoenixville, PA between 1879 and 1889.

Although it displays quite well from one side, it is in rotten condition. There is a large curving crack in the body of the jug which measures about 4". This is not a hairline crack, but a real crack. There is also a chip near the spout on the same side which has the crack. Luckily, the other side looks quite good. And the handle is in very good condition.

It is lightly impressed with the Etruscan Majolica mark in a circle with the Griffin, Smith, Hill monogram inside. It can be sort of read when the light glances off of it just right. I do guarantee that it is indeed Etruscan Majolica.

I wouldn't offer it, except for the fact that the Etruscan Sunflower pattern (especially in blue) is quite rare. Perhaps someone out there would like it as a "study piece".
