Fine Antique 19th C Japanese Cloisonne Tobacco Humidor Meiji

For those of you who collect unusual forms of cloisonne, I offer this gorgeous humidor, c. 1875. This is not just some jar that I am "calling" a humidor. You can see the top of this piece was made to hold a damp sponge which kept the tobacco moist.

It measures about 4-1/4" diameter at the base, and is about 6" high.

The background is dark cobalt blue. There are 5 decorative reserves on the body of the piece. One sports a dragon, one a phoenix, one butterflies, one florals, and one geometrics. It is almost like a "sampler" in cloisonne!

Condition? Amazingly perfect on the exterior. If you look a the photo of the interior of the lid at the 10 o'clock position you will see a small chip. That's it!
