Specializing in Early 19th C English Ceramics & Meiji Era Japanese Ceramics
It is large: measuring 9-1/4" (23.5 cm) long and and 7-1/4" (18.5 cm) wide. Very good condition. No chips, no crazing, no repairs. There is a small hairline in the lower right hand rose molded handle. There is an original firing crack (done in the making) visible only from the back. The piece still rings when struck.
You can see a photo of this same shape (noted by Geoffrey Godden as a "typical " Ridgway shape), on page 313 of his book "Godden's Guide to Ironstone". However, it is unmarked except for the pattern number 6/119 hand-written in red. That number does not conform to the Ridgway pattern number usage. So, the maker of this dish is still a mystery!
