This is a rarely found example of Satsuma decorated almost entirely in gosu blue with gilt accents. The entire shoulder of the vase is molded in relief, and at the neck is a bow which is molded in relief higher than the shoulder. Stunning hand painted landscapes with a large temple at the front of the vase.

Signed in gold on gosu blue on the base. It is 5" (12.75 cm) high. The Meiji Era in Japan was from 1867-1912.

For another example of a Satsuma Vase decorated in gosu blue, see page 56 of Sandra Andracht's "Treasury of Satsuma".

Privately acquired from a Vashon Island estate.

Excellent condition! No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Even the heavy gilding around the neck is unworn.
