This 19th C Gaudy Welsh Oyster pattern plate measures 9-5/8" from handle to handle. The handles have a molded design. The freely hand painted design is overglazed pink, red orange, and gold, with a cobalt blue under the glaze.

Excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, no crazing, no repairs. Has a nice ring, so no "invisible" hairline cracks. The only mark on the back is a hand painted pink arrow. Most likely made in the Staffordshire district of England, circa 1850. Beware of the Allerton reproduction made c. 1890! This is the original version.
