A fine antique Doulton Lambeth Slater's (Slaters, sic) Patent Chine' Gilt Ware Biscuit Jar, circa 1886-1890. About 7" ( 7.9 cm) high. The expensive Chine' process used linen to impress the texture on the wares, which were then enameled and gilded. This heavy jar has a warm cocoa brown base color with turquoise blue and white enamels on the floral design.

Condition? The jar itself is in good condition, but the lid has a good-sized chip and many small nicks, plus a short hairline crack which is visible from the underside only. Please scrutinize the photos. This biscuit jar displays well when placed slightly above eye level. Many marks to the base, including artist monograms I've been unable to identify. This heavy stoneware jar weighs over 2-1/2 lbs.
